TOWARD A FRAMEWORK OF ECONOMIC THOUGHTS BASED ON SUFFICIENCY ECONOMY 1
I. INTRODUCTION
Economics is the positive and normative body of Art & Science presiding over essentially 4 interrelated areas of investi- gation: (1) the fundamental motivation (utility, etc.) that drives economic actors/agents, (2) the set of criteria (goals, objectives, etc.) that form the basis of economic decision-making, (3) the economic behaviour set (production, consumption, investment, etc.) that actors/agents choose to pursue, and (4) the existence of, and processes concerning, economic system that governs the collective and connective dynamics of economic entities, including institutional actors and transactional agents.
A framework for economic thoughts can also be devel -oped, formulated, and elucidated inductively, from a collection of observations and hypotheses found to be consistent, supportive, or (at least) sympathetic with one another, or deductively, from a set of axioms, principles, or (at least) working definitions that serve as the foundation underlying cogent economic ideation. Sufficiency Economy is our topical framework of eco -nomic thoughts. Sufficiency Economy has been defined as per the Sufficiency Economy Description and Definition Set ( ฺBox 1), henceforth abbreviated as SED&D, which shall form de rigor the basis of our interpretation and elaboration from here onward. We shall proceed via a deductive process of parsing SED&D into syntactically and semantically analyzed components. Secularized Buddhist precepts are then applied in creating inferred construct of Sufficient Economy, and axioms are drafted.

เศรษฐกิจพอเพียง
เศรษฐกิจพอเพียงเป็นปรัชญาที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงมีพระราชดำรัสชี้แนะแนวทางการดำเนินชีวิตแก่พสกนิกรชาวไทยมาโดยตลอด นานกว่า 25 ปี ตั้งแต่ก่อนเกิดวิกฤติการณ์ทางเศรษฐกิจ และเมื่อภายหลังได้ทรงเน้นย้ำแนวทางการแก้ไขเพื่อให้รอดพ้นและสามารถดำรงอยู่ได้ อย่างมั่นคงและยั่งยืน ภายใต้กระแสโลกาภิวัตน์และความเปลี่ยนแปลงต่าง ๆ
ปรัชญาของเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง
เศรษฐกิจพอเพียง เป็นปรัชญาชี้แนวการดำรงอยู่และปฏิบัติตนของประชาชนในทุกระดับ ตั้งแต่ระดับครอบครัว ระดับชุมชน จนถึงระดับรัฐ ทั้งในการพัฒนาและบริหารประเทศ ให้ดำเนินไปในทางสายกลาง โดยเฉพาะการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจเพื่อให้ก้าวทันต่อโลกยุคโลกาภิวัตน์ ความ พอเพียง หมายถึงความพอประมาณ ความมีเหตุผล รวมถึงความจำเป็นที่จะต้องมีระบบภูมิคุ้มกันในตัวที่ดีพอสมควรต่อการมีผลกระทบใดๆ
อันเกิดจากความเปลี่ยนแปลง ทั้งภายนอกและภายใน ทั้งนี้จะต้องอาศัยความรอบรู้ความรอบคอบและความระมัดระวังอย่างยิ่งในการนำวิชาการต่างๆมาใช้ในการวางแผน และการดำเนินการทุกขั้นตอนและขณะเดียวกันจะต้องเสริมสร้างพื้นฐานจิตใจของคนในชาติ โดยเฉพาะเจ้าหน้าที่ของรัฐ นักทฤษฎีและนักธุรกิจในทุกระดับ ให้มีสำนึกในคุณธรรมความซื่อสัตย์สุจริต และให้มีความรอบรู้ที่เหมาะสม ดำเนินชีวิต ด้วยความอดทนความเพียรมีสติปัญญาและความรอบคอบ เพื่อให้สมดุลและพร้อมต่อการรองรับการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วและกว้างขวาง ทั้งด้านวัตถุสังคมสิ่งแวดล้อมและวัฒนธรรมจากโลกภายนอกได้ เป็นอย่างดี

For parsing purposes, the following set of notations have been devised (Box 2).

Summarily, it can be concluded, observed, and/or reem -phasized from the foregoing exposition that:
Regarding the Form and Function Sufficiency Economy is a Philosophy serves as Guide for the way of living/behaving for People of all levels toward the Middle Path.

Regarding the Agenda Sufficiency Economy delivers the Middle Path as the Economic Life Guiding Principle, i.e. a secularized normative prescription, but not a religious statement of faith.

Regarding the Application Domain Sufficiency Economy is scalable, with universal domain applicability: Individual, House- hold, Community, Project, Business, Management, Institution, Polity, Society, Nation State, Region, Humanity, Biosphere.

Regarding the Foundation for an Economic Framework Sufficiency Economy is complete, governing everything from Motivation (Utility, Drives, etc.), to Criteria (Goals, Objectives, etc.), to Behaviour (Production, Consumption, Investment, etc.), to System (Collectivity, Connectivity, etc.), and can be said to (at least implicitly) address all issues within a dynamic setting.

Regarding the Past Course of Development As such, Suffi- ciency Economy has been put forward for quite some times, and is not initiated as a result of the Asian Crisis.

Regarding the Present Course of Development However, in the Post-Crisis Environment, it has been reemphasized as the Solution to Globalization and Changes.

Regarding the Future Course of Development the Middle Path remains critically needed, particularly now with the pro- cess/mandate of pursuing Economic Development to keep pace with Globalization.

Regarding the Promise of Future Sufficiency Economy ensures Balance and Readiness to cope with fast/extensive changes w.r.t. Materials, Society, Environment, and Culture. 9.
Regarding the Paradigm Shift Sufficiency Economy arises against the backdrop of: Globalization (Integration) and (Pace of Technological-Cultural-Social) Changes, as well as perhaps Neoclassical Economic Policy Conducts, Develop- ment Models, Mandates, and Management.

Regarding the Working Definition Sufficiency entails 3 Components: Moderation, Reasonableness, and Requirement for a Self-Immunity System (able to cope with Impacts from Internal/External Changes).

Regarding the Presupposed Characters of the People/Processes Sufficiency Economy requires Breadth, Thoroughness, and Carefulness particularly in Applying Knowledge, in Planning, and in Implementation (of plans); alternatively, Sufficiency (Economy) particularly requires Breadth in

In short, Sufficiency Economy commands Actionable Prudence, particularly in Pursuing Advancements.

Regarding the Presupposed Moral/Ethical Foundation of the People Sufficiency Economy requires, and enforces the condition, that People are to possess Honesty/Integrity (with Appropriate Breadth of Knowledge to call upon); moreover, People are to conduct their lives with Perseverance/Tenacity (with Mindfulness and Thoroughness to call upon).
In short, Sufficiency Economy commands Ethical Character, especially for Positions of High Influence.
Note that:
Statements 1 through 4 defines Sufficiency Economy in terms of its form and function;
Observations 5 through 9 merely place Sufficiency Economy within relevant contexts;
Statement 10 enumerates what sufficiency means in terms of more concrete component concepts and attributes;
Points 11 and 12 complement Sufficiency Economy as a system of normative prescription and cite cogent presuppositions for a successful actualization of Suffi- ciency Economy.

IV. INFERRED CONSTRUCT
We have inferred the following: regarding Economic Motivation and Criteria, the Middle Path points toward Sufficiency (Principle) in/regarding Utility, Drives, etc., and thus in Goals, Objectives, etc. Moreover, we postulate: regarding Economic Behaviour and System, Middle Path, together with suggesting some example of Prescriptive Awareness VII (Box 6), points toward the New Theory of Production, Consumption, Investment, etc., and also of System Collectivity, Connectivity, etc. Finally, we surmise: the Sufficiency Principle and the New Theory together comprise the Sufficiency Economy construct (Box 7).
